Wwoofer - Jean Christophe

Jean Christophe stayed for a week - a short holiday from his carpentry compagnonage apprenticeship.  Having trained in architecture as well as carpentry he was an invaluable presence here at La Mariais ... both in terms of his practical skills and knowledge as well as his musical prowess and enquiring mind ....

has been in need of repair for
three years .......

He started with a technical sketch on the earth floor ...

... and set to measuring and looking
for suitable wood around the property ...

and precision work ....

 

 Earth Rendering in the House

JC was keen to learn about earth rendering.

 ... so I lent him one of my books 'Enduits
Terre' ... Eyrolles edition which he
devoured with enthusiasm ...

He helped to mix materials
for the earth render ....

 

... and quickly got the hang of
it ....
